How To Stop Panic Attacks – Without Feeling Stupid For Seeing A Therapist!
My name is Andy and I’d like to ask you something. If so, how long have you been surfing the web to find the right information about how to stop panic attacks? Many people spend hours online, only to be sent from one place to the other, without really finding the solution. But perseverance can pay off, as it did for me!
That’s exactly what I did when I wanted to know what was going on with panic attacks properly: I researched lots of stuff in need to find answers. And I took my time…but then I stumbled across something very good that can stop panic attacks naturally.
I was an anxious person in my life for a long time and in my psychology practice at the time I met many people who experienced similar problems, including panic attacks, general anxiety and other forms of anxiety. But the intensity of panic attacks always saddened me.
I always wanted to go the extra mile to help people deal with that intense “out-of-the-blue” fear, the thoughts about “I’m going to die” or “I’m going crazy” etc, and the mess it made of their lives…
Some people, maybe you even, couldn’t go out any more, losing friends, relationships…some people had trouble at work as panic happened in the workplace too…some people had to stop driving (imagine a panic attack when driving!…) and all their self-confidence had disappeared. Others couldn’t travel by airplane…
And plenty of people actually ended up in hospital even, thinking (wrongly!) they had a heart attack! That’s what a panic attack can make you feel like, as you might know. No wonder people are desperate to learn how to stop panic attacks.
As far as my own story, I had become socially anxious somehow and started to avoid social contacts, groups or any place I felt I was being “checked out”, evaluated, observed…the anxiety simply was to great, and panic would result if I didn’t sort myself out fast (e.g. by leaving the situation). That’s no way to live, right?
I had to find out how to stop panic attacks
Now, I could relate to these things well, as anxiety and panic attacks have many common features. But I knew that the horrible intensity and suddenness of panic attacks was totally unnecessary, and I really wanted to help people overcome panic attacks fast.
So I started my research properly and I learned lots about it. What are those fears, how do they happen, what are the causes, the symptoms, the treatments etc… and I taught many individuals how to stop having panic attacks. But in my enthusiasm of finding information…
One thing I hadn’t realized about how to stop panic attacks
I had gathered lots of helpful information on how to stop panic attacks but I forgot that I should really be giving lots more people actual access to this stuff AND…I realized I had focussed way too much on information gathering, totally forgetting that this knowledge needed to be put into action! So many people fear the first step of taking action…but that’s where it must begin to change your life!
So first, I made this blog, which continues to develop and already has a lot of articles, videos and information on it for you. But there was another thing…
I hadn’t realized until later that there had already been several experts who had put together very helpful and successful programs, designed to teach people how to stop panic attacks by themselves, without needing a therapist.
Often people really don’t want, or need, to see a psychologist or therapist to stop panic attack symptoms. Of course it can be helpful, but it is expensive, it can feel embarrassing, it makes you feel you’re “crazy” or just “different”. So what if you don’t have to go and see a therapist at all?…

How To Solve Panic Attacks – 4 Step Strategy to Face Your Fears
In this article I would like to tell you about how avoiding your fear makes it much harder if you want to learn how to solve panic attacks. I present 4 steps that help you fight this avoidance and will solve your panic attacks faster.
It is totally normal to avoid the places or situations where you experienced these horrible panic attacks before.
Perhaps they are crowded places, or small areas from which it was hard to escape. 
Perhaps it was only just with certain people. It could also just be the thought of certain situations, or of panic itself, that might make you feel anxious.
So you avoid them or avoid thinking about it. But is this a good idea?
What you probably already know, but I will say again, is that panic attacks are totally harmless physically. But feeling panic isn’t fun, so you try to avoid it.But if you constantly avoid the situations you associate with panic, you might never feel comfortable there, and perhaps always be adding more and more places to your panic list.
You start making a connection between places, situations, people or even certain thoughts or images, with the panic itself. This connection, however, is false and unhelpful. It is not the places or people or thoughts which produce panic, it is the meaning you give to them that produces or worsens your panic. Therefore, getting rid of panic attacks will not happen unless you are willing to go back to those very places you felt anxious as much as you can. If you want to know how to solve panic attacks, then you need to overcome this avoidance.

How To Solve Panic Attacks – The Plan
I aim to delve deeper into more subtle forms of avoidance in a later article, but you can certainly try and start with a gradual approach to overcoming avoidance of places or situations. Try this 4-step plan:
1. Write a list of places or situations you avoid because of your fear of panic.
2. Give them a rating from 1 to 10, where 1 means “I feel hardly any anxiety there” and 10 means “I feel total panic there”.
3. Put all the items on your list in order of severity, the lowest at the top and the highest at the bottom of your new list.
4. Make a big effort to go to the first place (with the lowest anxiety score) on your list. You might experience some anxiety, but perhaps not panic. In any case, it is crucial to stay there until the anxiety subsides, perhaps using coping skills. If you leave beforehand, you will not learn that things are actually safe and okay there, and you will need to repeat the exercise. Repeat step 4 until you feel no more anxiety and only then tackle the next place on your list etc.
