Your Questions About Dealing With Panic Attacks At Work

David asks…

why do i get panic attacks at work?

everytime i go to the office, i get this impeding sense of doom. my heartbeat speeds up and i break out into cold sweat. do i hate my job or something? how can i deal with this? i really need this job.

Andy answers:

Do you like your job? Are there any tensions around your job or people you work with? Is there a threat to your position? If it only happens in and around your job, you need to look at that closely, as I don’t think its panic disorder as such. Find out the real trigger, and what you believe them to mean. Often those meanings you give them are very unrealistic, and add to the anxiety.
